COUNTER
FLOW
|
CROSS
FLOW
|
These
cooling towers are 25% more efficient than cross flow type.
The reason being that as the air is being sucked from the
lower part of the Cooling Tower it rises upwards it gets
warmer and when it reaches the top it is the hottest at
that point. Since the water is flowing in the downward,
it is the hottest at the top. Thus hottest of air meets
the hottest of water and evaporation is more and thus the
cooling is more.
|
In
this case the air that passes the water, is not capable
to pass waters at different temperatures. Thus the level
of cooling in this case is less.
|
Sprinkler water distribution method is possible in counter
flow cooling tower. This type of distribution is considered
to be the most efficient method of water distribution in
a Cooling Tower.
|
No
sprinkler distribution is possible in a cross flow Cooling
Tower. |
A
Counter flow Cooling Tower is compact in size and design.
|
Cross
Flow Cooling Towers have to be large sized because of the
cavity which is to be left between the fan and the fills. |
